Alternative Certification (Non-Degree)
Are you a DC school teacher who needs certification? Trinity, in collaboration with DCPS, has created the ACP program to help you attain your full certification as required by law for all teachers in public, private, charter, and parochial schools.
Your teaching portfolio is your key to employment as a teacher, and sets you apart from other candidates. In this innovative program, each assignment you complete becomes part of your teaching portfolio. By the time you have completed the program, your portfolio will be complete as well!
Trinity’s evening classes are scheduled with busy teachers in mind. Smaller class sizes and a dedicated faculty ensure you receive the highest level of individual attention and support as you progress in the ACP program.
Concentrations
Trinity’s ACP program offers one general elementary certification concentration, and two secondary-level concentrations:
- The Elementary Education concentration prepares you to meet the District’s requirements for certification, and focuses on the skills needed to teach elementary school students a variety of subjects.
- The Secondary Education: English concentration prepares you to teach secondary school students and to meet the District’s certification requirements.
- In the Secondary Education: Social Studies concentration, you will build a skill set customized for teaching secondary school students.
