Message from the Director for Public Safety

Doris Bey, Director and Chief of PoliceI am very pleased to be appointed as the Director of Public Safety and am excited about working with everyone at Trinity Washington University.

The Department of Public Safety (DPS) will continually strive to meet the challenges of Trinity’s diverse campus community and to maintain the high standards of safety and security for our students, faculty and staff through strategic planning.  DPS works for you 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to promote Community Oriented Policing that envisions an effective working partnership between DPS and members of our campus community in the task of creating a safe and secure working and learning environment.

We believe that a well informed community is a safer community.  The Department of Public Safety believes that accountability, integrity and communication are the foundations for public trust and professionalism.  DPS has the responsibility of enforcing laws, rules, and regulations and for providing services to the public. You, have the responsibility and expectations to provide notification if you see any suspicious or unusual activities on or around our campus.   As I continue to learn and grow with each of you at Trinity, I trust that it will be in an orientation for collaboration and teamwork.

An Annual Security Report has been prepared for the academic year 2008-2009. We hope that you find this report to be useful.  Please take the time to review this information.  The Annual Security Report can be located by visiting the Department of Public Safety’s home page at http://www.trinitydc.edu/offices/safety/index.html.

All of us at DPS wish to thank you for helping to make this a safe campus.

Sincerely,
