Pre-registration is required for all fitness classes.  Please sign up at the Membership office or call 202-884-9092 and charge it to your Visa, Mastercard or Discover card.

Class Descriptions: Oct. 5 - Dec. 23, 2009

Pilates Mat

An exercise system focused on improving flexibility and strength for the total body without building bulk.  MWF 11am to 12 noon Members $100 / Non-Members $175/Students FREE 

Multi-level Yoga

Tone, strengthen and build endurance through various poses.  MWF 7am to 8am Members $90 / Non-Members $150/Faculty and Staff FREE

Boxing (non-contact)

A 30 minute class of basic boxing moves for a quick circuit workout.  MWF 6:45am -7:15am Members FREE/ Non-members $75

Abs Express

A 15 minute intense ab and core workout.  MWF 7:15am - 7:30am Members Free / Non-Members $25

Tight & Tone

A 15 minute lower body blast.  MWF 7:30am - 7:45am Members Free / Non-Members $25

Cardio & Abs

A cardio class that will get your lungs pumping and stomach flat. MWF 12 noon to 1pm Members Free / Non-Members $75

Basic Fitness Training

Includes power moves, plyometrics and strengthening exercises in a vigorous circuit format. Keeps you jumping and your muscles pumping. MWF 5pm to 6pm or MWF 6pm to 7pm Members Free / Non-Members $75

Guts & Butts

A fun, high energy class which focuses on your abs and gluts. MWF 7pm to 8pm Members Free / Non-Members $75

Women's Body Fit Blast

Strength training, core and flexibility exercises with cardio bursts.  Utilizing the body bars, weights, resistance bands, medicine balls and steps.  Class is designed for women of all ages and fitness levels.  Note:  Participants must bring their own resistance bands.   T 7pm to 8pm/TH 6pm to 7pm and Saturday 11am to 12pm.  Members Free / Non-Members $75

Tai Chi

An internal Chinese martial art whose movements are relaxed and flowing.  The movements are learned in sequence with combined emphasis on health, meditation and self-defense.  Benefits include improved balance, coordination, focus and parameters for internal health.  MW 2:30pm to 3:30pm Members $75/Non-Members $125

Advanced Tai Chi/Tai Chi Sword

Advanced level of Tai Chi utilizing the sword as a training tool.  Previous Tai Chi required.  MW 3:30pm to 4:00pm  Members $25 / Non-Members $50

Power Walking

Learn how to power walk with Delphine. TH 7pm to 8pm Members FREE / Non-Members $75.

On the Ball

Looking to increase your core strength by training “on the ball?” This class will utilize the ball for resistance work while focusing on the ab and back muscles. Class limit is 10 people maximum . T 6:00pm to 7:00pm or Sat. 10 am to 11 am Members Free / Non-Members $75

Basic Shallow Water Aerobics

Take the plunge! Exercise in shallow water creates little impact on the joints but is a great cardio workout. This is the prefect water class for beginners and participants recovering from knee and hip surgery.   TTH 11am to 12 noon / MW 1pm to 2pm (class ends 12/17) Members $45/Non-Members $125    MW 6:30pm to 7:30pm (class ends 10/28) Members $15 / Non-Members $45

Advanced Water Aerobics

A step beyond basic water aerobics, this class focuses on cardio, strength training and stretching for a comprehensive and full body workout.  This class will occur primarily in shallow water, but will also include deep water exercises.  Participants must be comfortable and have the ability to float and balance on water weights in deep water.  MWF 7am to 8am Members $45 / Non-Members $125 (class ends 12/16)

Aqua Body Boot Camp

An hour long workout which includes strengthening and toning exercises for abs, arms, and legs with a cardio foundation.  Barbells and water noodles are used to increase resistance and intensity for the whole body.  This class is designed for advanced shallow water aerobics participants.  MTWTH 10am to 11am Members $60 / Non-Members $160 (class ends 12/17)

 Senior Weight Room Circuit

A supervised senior (paced) small group workout class using the circuit weight equipment.  Great opportunity to familiarize yourself with the machines under the direction of a certified trainer.  Prior weight room experience is necessary.  Class limit is 6 people maximum.  Sat. 9am to 10am  Members only FREE

SPECIAL PROGRAMS

Personal Training - One-on-one Personal Training sessions available with Delphine or Kevin.  Sessions are by appointment only.  Contact the Membership Office for more information.  $55 per hour session or 3 sessions for $150

Private Swim Lessons -We offer private youth (3+ yrs) and adult swim lessons. Sessions are fro 30 minutes and are booked by appointment only.  Member $30 per session / Non-Members $45 per session

Fitness Assessments -  Track your fitness progress by starting off with a Fitness Assessment!  Performed by Delphine and Kevin, assessments gauge your current cardiovascular and muscle endurance and includes body composition measurements.  Sessions are by appointment only.  Contact the Membership Office for more information. $25  for Members and $15 for Senior Members 

Weight Room Orientation - Learn how to use the weight room equipment properly and the function of each machine. First Saturday of each month from 12 pm to 1 pm Weight Room - Free Program (class is for members only).  Pre-registration is not required.
